About Me
First and Foremost, I am a Mother

I am a mom of a beautiful baby girl, who was born on April 24th 2007. Her
birth was un-medicated, a fact that I believe was possible in part by a
wonderful doula! She was my rock, and inspired me to study to be the
same for other women.

I am a Breastfeeder

Although I had no strong conviction to breastfeed when I was pregnant, as
soon as that little baby came, I knew that I would do anything for her. I knew
that breastfeeding for as long as possible was what would be best. I have
now been breastfeeding for over 1 year, with no real end in sight! I have
been very active in the Frederick chapter of the
La Leche League and hope
to one day become a Leader!

I am a Babywearer

What, might you ask, is a babywearer? It is a man, a woman, a father, a
mother, a caregiver, who feels the closer you can keep your baby to you,
the better. I  "accidentally" found out about babywearing from a woman
carrying her baby while I was pregnant. The baby was in a wrap that was so
colorful and that baby just looked so darn comfy. I immediately went home
to find out more about all sorts of carriers... and was quickly overwhelmed. I
since have sorted through most of them (and have at least one of each
kind) and have been helping others on the journey of finding the perfect
carrier for them. I also lead the meetings in Gaithersburg for
thebabywearer.com. They are every second Friday of the month at Einstein
Brothers Bagels at 10:30 am.

I am a Doula

Although I am still in training, I think it takes a lot more than just training to be
a Doula. From the moment I met my Doula, I knew she was the one. Her
passion for what she did was apparent. I hope that my passion can equal
hers. I have a great interest in unmedicated (or natural) childbirth, and would
like to help women on one of the most important journeys of their life.
